Metal roofing has long been considered a low maintenance roofing system. But it no longer is just a utilitarian choice as today's metal roofing includes an amazing variety and palette of colours, styles, textures, and designs.

Metal roofing comes in plain galvanized steel or simple galvalume finishes, or is Prepainted in baked enamel, SMP polyester, or Kynar 5000 paint finishes. It also is available in aluminum prepainted finishes but the "norm" is now the Steel Roofing products.

Aluminum has experienced some paint finish problems in certain areas such as ours, and we don't normally recommend aluminum roofing. As some of the problems with Aluminum Metal Roofing were related to cheap paint finishes and their eventual de-lamination and peeling, we can't fault all Aluminum manufacturers, but only those who are too cost motivated. We're certain there are some good finished available for Aluminum Roofing, but we haven't found many cost efficient ones yet.

As Steel is less costly than aluminum for roofing in our area it is what we and the industry generally offer. Certainly aluminum is less likely to rust, but with some of the outstanding paints such as Kynar 5000 available on some steel metal roofing, we believe that steel will last a long time. And steel has the benefit of not having too much expansion and contraction issues compared to aluminum, tin, and zinc.

We also offer certain profiles in Copper for those wanting authenticity, endurance, and long life. Though a noticeable budget change is required whenever Copper is used, it does provide a long life solution, and an unmatchable look.

For small detail roofs such as bay window covers, or dormer roofs, copper can be an elegant addition without breaking the bank. Also attractive, decorative and ventilating cupolas look wonderful on many building designs when topped with a copper roof. But ensure it is installed with good roofing techniques, proper fasteners, and good flashing craftsmanship.

To make those small or large copper roofs go quicker, and look great we now have copper slate look shingles available, so that almost anyone can install a great looking copper roof. Metalworks' Stonecrest Copper Slates look great, are easy to install, and come in convenient 50 square foot boxes.

Also available in metal shingles are Steel (Kynar 5000 paint finish) shingles with the appearance of Slate or Cedar Shingles. These are cost effective, available in many colours, and are simple to install. See our metal shingle page for more information.

Of course most metal roofing today is installed using either roll formed cladding panels such as "Duraclad", "Diamond Rib", or "All clad". Typical on farm buildings, cabins, and some residential or commercial buildings these are the inexpensive utility products for metal roofing. For greater style some projects also use corrugated roofing to mimic historic fish houses, or Caribbean style roofs. Corrugated 1/2" or 7/8" comes in Galvalume or PrePainted finishes and can work wonders to the architecture when installed on the siding panels in Marine Theme buildings such as at Granville Island or Brewery Restaurants. All the panels mentioned above, as well as other designs are also used on sidewalls for cladding the exterior of barns and commercial buildings.

Growing in popularity are the standing seam roll formed panels such as Pro-Lock panels. These include a hidden fastener installation and simply "Snap" together prior to screwing down along the hidden fastener flange. As the screws on metal roofing are often in need of inspection after ten or 15 years when they are installed "exposed" like on most typical cladding panels, the standing seam and snap-lock seams require less maintenance because of the hidden fastening.

See our   Standing Seam  page for further photos and information on "Snap-Lock", "Weather-Lock", "Custom-Lock", "Wide-Lock", "Pro-Lock","Mega-Lock" and other standing seam panels.

Some of the most exciting changes to metal roofing has been the advancement of new textures for metal roofing panels. These include the new Clay Tile appearance panels such as the Westform "Dek-Tile" panel.

Dek-Tile mimics the look of real glazed clay tiles. They are constructed of heavy gauge Galvanized Steel with a Kynar 5000 paint finish. Light-weight and strong these panels can be formed in the length you require up to about 20 feet long. At 43 1/2" wide the project can be closed in no time.

All Weather Products manufactures standard and custom metal flashings to complete any metal roofing project ... Just bring in your details. We custom make Snap-Lock panels in numerous sizes, widths, and materials ... made right here with our state of the art German Engineered CNC controlled forming, shearing, and roll-forming plant.

We also provide the complete metal roofing project's materials, from underlayments and flashings, to venting, screws, and delivery.

Most importantly, we can assist with the "how to" to make your job go efficiently and properly. Or find the right installer to get the job done right the first time.
